Principal's MessageHello to all of our wonderful students and their families. September has flown by and we are already halfway through October. It has been wonderful to have our students and staff safely back in the building so that we can get back to the ever important job of learning!

Students have done a wonderful job of learning and adhering to all the new safety procedures around the school, such as wearing a facemask and regularly washing and disinfecting their hands. Our daytime cleaning technician, Mr. Boulanger, is doing an amazing job of regularly sanitizing our school so that it is nice and clean and safe for all of our students and staff.

We are currently in the process of testing our students' numeracy skills with the MIPI benchmarking test. This test allows teachers to see where students are at with their numeracy skills and helps them to plan their instruction accordingly.

Our wonderful Indigenous Education Coach, Mr. Jamie Chalifoux, has organized a number of exciting Land Based Learning fieldtrips for our grades three through six, including learning how to make traditional dry meat and smoked fish! Yum!

Joussard School supported the Terry Fox "Run for a Cure" by participating in a walk around the community. Students raised $700 for cancer research. Great job, Lakers!

Our Orange Shirt Day celebrations were a success. Students wore orange t-shirts in recognition of the legacy of residential schools. The grade 5/6 class visited the site of the old Joussard Mission for a teaching on the significance and impact of residential schooling on our community. Ms. Sander's class teamed up with Mr. Jamie to make an informative video about Orange Shirt Day and we are very proud of their work.
